  1.2  1648, as follows: 

  1.3     Delete everything after the enacting clause and insert:  

  1.4     "Section 1.  PURCHASE OF PRIOR SERVICE CREDIT.

  1.5     (a) An eligible person described in paragraph (b) is

  1.6  entitled to purchase up to one year of allowable service credit

  1.7  from the Teachers Retirement Association for the 2003‑2004

  1.8  school year.  The service credit purchase under this section

  1.9  must be made in accordance with Minnesota Statutes, section

  1.10 356.551, except as otherwise stated in this section.

  1.11    (b) An eligible person is a person who:

  1.12    (1) is currently a member of the Teachers Retirement

  1.13 Association;

  1.14    (2) was born on April 2, 1949;

  1.15    (3) has been employed by Independent School District No.

  1.16 11, Anoka‑Hennepin, since the 1971‑1972 school year;

  1.17    (4) applied for and was granted an extended leave of

  1.18 absence from Independent School District No. 11, Anoka‑Hennepin,

  1.19 for the 2002‑2003, 2003‑2004, and 2004‑2005 school years under

  1.20 Minnesota Statutes, section 122A.46;

  1.21    (5) was unable to make timely payment for the 2003‑2004

  1.22 school year under Minnesota Statutes, section 354.094, because

  1.23 of a problem in transferring funds from the individual's

  1.24 tax‑sheltered annuity account; and

  1.25    (6) was not permitted by the Teachers Retirement

  1.26 Association to make payment after June 30, 2004, with interest.

  1.27    (c) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 356.551,

  1.28 payment must be made by September 1, 2005, or prior to

  1.29 termination of service, whichever is earlier.  If full payment

  1.30 is made under that section, then notwithstanding Minnesota

  1.31 Statutes, section 354.094, the individual is authorized under

  1.32 Minnesota Statutes, section 354.094, to make the required

  1.33 contribution for the 2004‑2005 school year, and any subsequent

  1.34 years of the leave.  The employee contribution for the 2004‑2005

  1.35 school year must be made on or before September 30, 2005, with

  1.36 .708 percent monthly interest from June 30, 2005, until paid.

  2.1     Sec. 2.  EFFECTIVE DATE.

  2.2     Section 1 is effective on the day following final

  2.3  enactment."
