  1.3     Page 3, line 33, delete "and" 

  1.4     Page 4, line 1, delete the underscored period and insert ";

  1.5  and" 

  1.6     Page 4, after line 1, insert: 

  1.7     "(5) appropriation amounts received under section 2." 

  1.8     Page 4, after line 10, insert: 

  1.9     "Sec. 2.  APPROPRIATION.

  1.10    Subdivision 1. INITIAL APPROPRIATION. On July 1, 2005,

  1.11 an appropriation shall be made from the state general fund to

  1.12 the Teachers Retirement Association equal to 75 percent of one

  1.13 half of the maximum total actuarial present value of the

  1.14 additional benefit amount permitted under section 1, subdivision

  1.15 3, paragraph (b).

  1.16    Subd. 2. SUBSEQUENT APPROPRIATION. By June 15, 2006, the

  1.17 executive director of the Teachers Retirement Association shall

  1.18 notify the commissioner of finance in writing regarding whether

  1.19 an appropriation, in addition to the appropriation made in

  1.20 subdivision 1, is necessary to cover one half of the full

  1.21 actuarial present value of the additional benefit amount

  1.22 provided under section 1.  If an additional appropriation is

  1.23 needed, that additional appropriation shall be made on July 1,

  1.24 2006.

  1.25    Subd. 3. MAXIMUM APPROPRIATION. The appropriation made

  1.26 in subdivision 1, and subdivision 2 if applicable, when combined

  1.27 must not exceed one half of the maximum amount specified in

  1.28 section 1, subdivision 3, paragraph (b)."  

  1.29    Page 4, line 12, delete "Section 1 is" and insert "Sections

  1.30 1 and 2 are" 

  1.31    Amend the title accordingly
